Pro-Install Performance.
The MrCool Advantage series is engineered for professional HVAC contractors and homeowners who want a lower-cost alternative to the DIY line. Frequently Asked
Common questions
What is the difference between MrCool Advantage and DIY?+
DIY uses pre-charged Quick Connect line sets — no vacuum pump, no HVAC license needed. Advantage uses traditional flare fittings and requires a vacuum pump and refrigerant scale (HVAC tech work). Advantage equipment costs 15-25% less than DIY for equivalent BTU, but you save the labor savings if you DIY.
Can I install Advantage myself?+
Only if you have HVAC experience and the right tools (vacuum pump, manifold gauges, refrigerant scale, flare tool). Federal EPA Section 608 requires a license to handle refrigerant. If you don't have those tools or that license, the DIY series is the right product for you.
Does Advantage come with WiFi?+
Most current Advantage models include WiFi out of the box for app-based control via the MrCool SmartHVAC app. Some older Advantage models supported WiFi as an add-on module.
What is the warranty on Advantage?+
7 years on parts and compressor when registered through MrCool. The warranty applies whether installed by a contractor or yourself, as long as installation follows the manufacturer instructions.
