How is Hyper Heat different from a regular MrCool heat pump?+

Hyper Heat uses vapor-injection compression (also called EVI — enhanced vapor injection) which boosts heating capacity at low ambient temperatures. A regular heat pump delivers only 60-70% of rated capacity at 17°F; Hyper Heat delivers 100%. Below 0°F, regular heat pumps shut down; Hyper Heat continues operating to -22°F.

Do I need Hyper Heat in my climate?+

If your winter design temperature (coldest 1% of winter hours) is below 20°F, yes. If it's above 20°F, a standard heat pump performs fine. Check your zip code's design temp at energy.gov or call us for guidance.

Does Hyper Heat cost more than a standard heat pump?+

Typically 10-20% more at the equipment level. The premium is offset by stronger rebates (Hyper Heat qualifies for the maximum federal $2,000 credit and many state programs that exclude standard heat pumps), better heating performance, and lower backup-heat usage.
